Todd Silverman, General Manager

Todd joined the Fairgrounds in 2019 and brought a wealth of event planning and execution to the management of the Fairgrounds. He has been a resident and active member of York Region for over 30 years, with hands-on experience in arts and theatre, school board advocacy and youth programming. Todd has spent most of his career in the Arts and Entertainment Industry, working in film, television and live theatre. He also served as the Theatre Manager of the Vaughan City Playhouse and currently sits on the board of the Markham Arts Council.

Mick Erskine, Property Manager

Joining the staff in 2002, Mick is responsible for the operation and upkeep of the Fairgrounds and assets of the Agricultural Society. Wearing many different hats, Mick assists with the Fair set-up and teardown. Outside of “fair time” Mick oversees the changing needs of the property and manages the property staff.  

Valerie Sevel, Rental Manager

Val is the main contact for event rentals at the Markham Fair Grounds. She is a master negotiator and ensures that tenants are well taken care of. From helping to choose the right space for your event to setting you up with preferred/recommended service providers, Val ensures that bylaws are met and will help with permits and approvals for your event. She is our ‘go-to’ for just about anything at the grounds.

Barb Morrison, Accounting

Barb handles the day-to-day accounting requirements of the Society. Working with the Finance Chair on analysis and reporting. Barb frequently responds to the needs of Committee Chairs regarding approvals for expenditures and payments. Barb is an avid “Quilter” who has won many awards for her art.

Mike Hughes, Property Staff

Mike joined the staff in 2019. Mike is no stranger to the grounds having worked during fair time for a number of years. Mike is a qualified heavy equipment operator who has earned the title “Kid Steer”.
